Hi Maddy
Thank you! We had the most wonderful holiday. It is so sad to be back in cold SA and having to hide our beautiful brown bodies under all this winter wear.
On the flight there the attendant moved us to four open seats as she thought our little one would be too big for the bassinet. It worked well and we had enough space to let him sleep in the middle.
Club Med over-all made a very good impression on us and we were delighted with everything from the beautiful surroundings, well-organised events and friendly staff. Everyone really goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and assists you in any way they can. We made good friends with some of the staff and are fortunate that we can now keep in touch via Facebook and emails. The food was great and they cater for absolutely everyone. We were very impressed with the “Baby Welcome” and all the extra services included. We did not leave Julian at the Baby Club, but did get a babysitter on two occasions and were very satisfied with her services. The hotel and grounds are immaculate and everyone is so helpful and friendly.
The only complaint that I have is with the nurse on duty. We took Julian there a few hours before our return flight as he was burning up, but she struggled to understand us and did nothing more than take his temperature and told us to come back in two hours. By that time however, we were already on the taxi on our way to the airport. Julian just got worse all the way to Kuala Lumpur and there we had to get a doctor to come out and see him. We considered missing the flight and staying behind until he got better, but the Travel Insurance was of absolute no help and in the end we opted to rather fly home and get medical attention here. Two hours after landing in Johannesburg we took him to hospital and they diagnosed him with tonsillitis. Luckily nothing serious and after a few days of antibiotics he already seems much better.
Phuket was a wonderful, colourful experience and we enjoyed excursions, shopping and lazy hours on the beautiful beaches. We look forward to going back someday and are also keen on staying at another Club Med.
